Tubeless/Tubular sealing - worth it?

Post by Freeza » 24 Aug 2015 16:41

I read in the forum some people mentioning some 10kr goo being nice to put up tubular or tubeless tires.

I just bought me some Schwalbe Doc Blue sealant, 500ml for 280kr. (could not find that awesome 10kr price) Do you have any experience with it?

It feels a bit too expensive, but then again, maybe it saves you from buying a couple of tires (I'm riding on gatorskins)

Also, it says the sealant holds 2 to 7 months inside the tube. What happens after that? I can just put some more? Any side effects?

I'm not completely convinced.

500 ml seals at least 10 tires so it's not that expensive. i've found that the goo is still liquid after two years but i guess some of it has deposited as solids on the inside. i guess the best way to use it is to carry a small bottle for when you get a flat. before that you're just adding weight since it doesn't prevent flats it just fixes them automatically.

Nice thinking.

This big bottle does come with a smaller one, but the cap comes way too easily, meaning, not good to transport in a back pack for example.
